Support for Those Experiencing Domestic Abuse in Greenville, SC

According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), intimate partner violence (sometimes called domestic violence) affects 1 in 3 women in the USA. Although women of all ages may experience intimate partner violence, it is most common among women of reproductive age, and impacts more than 324,000 pregnant women each year.

Physical violence from an intimate partner is also often preceded or accompanied by emotionally abusive and controlling behavior. Women who experience this are at higher risk of physical injury/death, unintended pregnancy, pregnancy complications, financial strain, mental health problems, poor overall health, and sexually transmitted infections. More information can be found on the ACOG website.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline is specifically for those facing this difficult situation. Piedmont Women’s Center is also here to help you find more information on this topic and to create a safety plan if you need one. You can meet one-on-one with a member of our team to get the support you need. Your information will be kept confidential and will not be discussed with anyone outside of your healthcare team unless required by law. If you need help, reach out today!
